In revelation 17 john saw a harlot woman:

"And one of the seven angels who had the seven vessels came and said to me, Come here, so that you may see the judging of the evil woman who is seated on the great waters"

Revelation 17:1

Who was the evil woman? The Catholic church? Many people tihinks so, but, it’s wrong

The woman was a big City:

"And the woman whom you saw is the great town, which is ruling over the kings of the earth"

Revelation 17:18

And that big city is called by harlot. Jerusalém was a big city called by harlot

"How is the faithful city (JERUSALÉM) become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers"

Isaiah 1:21

"Why, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:"

Ezequiel 16:35

"For of old time I have broken your yoke, and burst your bands; and you said, I will not transgress; when on every high hill and under every green tree you wander, playing the harlot"

Jeremiah 2:20

Because God made a alliance with the jewish people, and that is like a marriage. God was the husband and Jerusalém was the wife.

"Surely as a wife (JERUSALÉM) treacherously departs from her husband (GOD), so have you dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, said the LORD"

The faithfull woman follow his husband only, God. But, when the woman follow anothers Gods, she is betrayng his husband, God, so, she gets a harlot.

The harlot was drunk with the prophet’s blood:

"And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration"

Revelation 17:6

"And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain on the earth"

Revelation 18:24

Jerusalém killed the prophets:

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which kill the prophets, and stone them that are sent to you; how often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen does gather her brood under her wings, and you would not!"

Luck 13:34

"That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;"

"Woe to you! for you build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them"

"Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem"

See? It’s not the catholic church. the catholic church begins after the prophet's period

The woman was on the beast

"So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit on a scarlet colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns"

Revelation 17:3

"And here is the mind which has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits"

Jerusalém was sit on the Roman Empire

The woman was wedding purple and scarlet color

"And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:"

"And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a turban, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, and his sons, that he may minister to me in the priest' office. And they shall take gold, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen"
